Indigenous Outreach Report:  Far North Queensland and into the Gulf of Carpentaria Yarrabah and Kowanyama Remote Indigenous Communities

With our trusty Ford Transit van packed and ready to live in for the next 8 weeks, we left Bendemeer for Outreach into Indigenous Australia in Far North Queensland, travelling 4700 kilometres, plus one plane flight.

Christian Convention - Moree NSW

Many First Nation Pastors, Leaders and believers gathered alongside Non-Indigenous ministries, facilitating reconciliation with God and with one another (John 17:21-23). Both Peter and Katie were privileged to share. Katie led a Women of Destiny Gathering, and gifted the women there with “The Power of Proclamation” by Derek Prince, to help them purposefully proclaim the word of God over their lives, families, and communities.

Peter and Katie then met with a young and upcoming Evangelist / Teacher and Prophet couple. We talked and prayed together concerning Kingdom Building and Revival across the nation, including Indigenous Australia. After hearing their heart and also hearing their daughter’s heart, we were able to give the Mum (An Indigenous leader) a DPM teaching on “Pulling down Strongholds”, and her teenage daughter was thrilled to receive a Derek Prince booklet “The Power of Proclamations”. What a joy to see the hunger and passion for Jesus and solid teaching of the word in the hearts of the next generation.

Ministry into Yarrabah Indigenous Community

Prayer Meeting - Yarrabah Indigenous Community

Despite challenges with our campervan breaking down, God still made a way for us to continue to minister. The first of five meetings in Yarrabah, we stood with the Indigenous Reverend of the Anglican Church and a few of his key leaders to make decrees over Yarrabah community. Together, in one accord we proclaimed the word of God over Yarrabah community.

The Leaders who joined us were particularly interested in Derek’s booklets entitled “The Power of Proclamation” and “The Pulling Down of Strongholds”. A timely gift that was very much appreciated and utilised immediately. We also gifted them “Extravagant Love”, “The Exchange at the Cross”, “God’s Medicine Bottle”, and much more! We were privileged to pray and prophesy over multiple key Indigenous leaders at the Manse, and their core leaders also. A powerful time of much needed prayer.

Healing Meeting - Yarrabah Indigenous Community

Before the service begun, we handed out DPM materials and booklets to people. During the healing service, for 3 Hours - God’s power was evident with notable physical healing miracles. Many people were also baptised in the Spirit and speaking in tongues. There were many salvations, including a number of children and youth giving their hearts to Jesus. The Lord opened the blind eye of a little girl, and it was thrilling to see her Aunty so excited with joy beaming from her face, when she was asked to point to her Aunty. She could see her Aunty through what was her blind eye. Other miracles included restored vision impairment, deaf ears opened, and physical healings as God was moving in power and transforming lives.

Prayer Meeting - Yarrabah Indigenous Community

While in Yarrabah, sadly a young indigenous person in the community had passed away, however from this sad event, God opened a door for us to minister to the unsaved in the community. A key leader of the grieving family invited us to minister to the affected families in the local Church.

A large group of people filled the Church with about 95% of them unsaved. Many elderly and young people gave their hearts to Jesus. We released the love of God as we prayed over each one. The grieving family informed us that many of their relatives would never visit a Church, however they came to this Church in their grief, and were touched by the power and love of God as they received prayer. All glory to Jesus! We distributed DPM booklets “Complete Salvation” and “Extravagant Love”, which were perfect for these people and time of ministry.

Salvations marked this day with adults and many of the children giving their heart and lives to Jesus. The love of God penetrated the hardened and broken hearted for them to receive Jesus and receive the unfailing and extravagant love of God. Through a word of knowledge, many were released from the weight of generational trauma and the burden of carrying the generational compounded grief. A week later we received a report to say that those released from this burden were still free, where they were weighed down unable to move forward, they are now feeling “light, full of joy and moving forward in a peace” they had not experienced or been able to do for many years. Since our visit we have been informed that Yarrabah community have started a new initiative, gathering in homes to worship, pray, prophesy and proclaim the word of God over families and their community.

The God of the breakthrough is breaking through, even generational strongholds are being broken off and He is restoring His people.

Ministry into Kowanyama Remote Indigenous Community

We then caught a light plane flight to Kowanyama to minister to the remote Indigenous community there, and before we left, I heard the Lord say, “I will move in power and glory.” I was immediately overwhelmed with His love and awe. We arrived and the Kowanyama Community gathered to welcome us. Many came to the Church for ministry, which was a wonderful opportunity to equip them with the Derek Prince resources that met their immediate need and empowered them to continue to live a life of freedom.

In the afternoon we gathered to equip a group of key Christian Community Leaders in Binding and Loosing, Positional Authority and Pulling Down Strongholds. We shared from Derek’s Pulling Down Strongholds and The Power of Proclamation teaching. Together with the leaders we made decrees, and declarations to see the strongholds in this region dethroned and we enthroned Jesus over Kowanyama! It was a powerful time together and the people reported feeling empowered and inspired to continue this biblical practice.

We broke ground in Kowanyama. We are seeing the release of Pentecost power and we were pulling down the fire of God, believing for strongholds to be broken off this region. We saw people revived in their hearts to run for Jesus again. We also saw the cold coals in the hearts of the people re-ignited and sparked with a passion for Jesus and the word of God. We equipped people with the word of God and a range of Derek Prince Teaching Booklets which they appreciated greatly.

Sunday Church Service

Katie rang the community bell 20 times to alert the community that Church was on. People streamed into the Church. Peter preached the gospel and a word directly from Derek Prince’s “The Divine Exchange”. People were saying “Wow, I’ve never heard anything like this before.”

We saw the word of God touching people deeply and many responded by flocking to the altar for prayer. Eyes were opened, ears opened and people were set free from chronic neck pain and more. We also spent time before and after Church distributing Derek Prince Ministry Teaching Booklets.

Kowanyama Camp-Fire Ministry (Gulf of Carpentaria)

Around the campfire, Peter shared a message from Derek’s teaching on “Pulling Down Strongholds” and “The Power of Proclamation,” about binding and loosing and making proclamations. This revived the hearts of the people and ignited a fire in the people. As we all stood in a circle holding hands praying and making proclamations, a key leader had a powerful encounter with Jesus and spontaneously broke out speaking in tongues. She was so overwhelmed that she set herself aside to spend time weeping in the Lord’s presence. She was profoundly impacted by the presence and power of God. God was true to His word, as always, as He moved in power and glory just as He said He would.

We also prayed with a precious lady, who wasn’t sleeping and then she testified that she had a good night sleep for the first time in years. Jesus had delivered her from decades of affliction and torment in the mind, in order to have a full night of peaceful sleep. The Lord also restored this same lady’s eyesight the morning before. Jesus Healed her eyes and set her free from demonic torment! Glory to God!

Since our return from Kowanyama, leaders have informed us that locals are starting a prayer meeting (a new initiative) to make proclamations over their community. They have since reported that they are now meeting twice per week. Dead hearts have been revived, stagnate people are now moving forward in Christ, life and hope has been restored to some of the community. This was really encouraging!

Local Shed Ministry

We met with a number of key community leaders, and shared about the seminar we run called, “Hearts Healed and Restored”. We gave them Derek Prince books titled “God Medicine Bottle”, “From Cursing to Blessing” and a range of Derek Prince Ministries resources.

God moved powerfully to give us favour with the people across Government, Community organisations and the local people in Kowanyama, where we’ve been asked to come back again soon.

Thank you to our treasured DPM donors and Derek Prince Ministries for partnering with us to provide such valuable teaching resources, that we believe will empower the people to live a more victorious Christian life. Thank you for your valued financial and prayer support also. Without your support, many precious people would not be reached and empowered with Derek’s teaching! Your support truly transforms lives.

With grateful hearts,
