Port Blair: Spiritual Breakthrough Amidst Storms in the Andamans

Despite facing torrential rain and intense winds, we at Derek Prince Ministries–India witnessed a powerful spiritual breakthrough during a recent ministry trip to Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Two back-to-back events—a pastors’ meeting and two youth training programs—brought fresh revelation, renewed purpose, and lasting transformation to church leaders and young believers alike.

Pastors' Meeting: A Shift in Authority and Understanding

The first event was a one-day gathering for local pastors from the southern islands—most of whom were attending a DPM event for the first time. Though the weather outside was turbulent, the real challenge inside was spiritual: the initial atmosphere felt heavy and unfamiliar.

I taught on the topic of Authority, drawing insights from Derek Prince’s teaching The Rod of God. Language barriers posed additional difficulty, particularly in conveying the distinction between power and authority—a concept largely unfamiliar to many attendees. Nevertheless, as the Word began to penetrate hearts, clarity and conviction began to emerge.

A pastor shared, “I just got to know the difference between power and authority,” capturing the theme of the session’s impact. Another attendee testified to gaining a new understanding of praise as a spiritual weapon, while a woman tearfully shared how her burden for her own family had expanded to include intercession for the lost.

By the end of the meeting, the entire atmosphere had changed. The pastors joined in powerful prayer, taking spiritual authority over the region and interceding for the people of the Andamans. What began in uncertainty ended with a sense of deep freedom and spiritual victory.

Youth Training Program: A Storm Outside, a Fire Within

Immediately following the pastors' meeting, we led a three-day Youth Training Program (YTP) hosted by Maranatha Church in Port Blair. The weather remained severe, and our team had to arrive late due to extreme rain. However, we were surprised to find 45 youth and volunteers already gathered—soaked but full of anticipation.

The event soon grew to about 60 participants, most of whom quickly realized this was no ordinary youth camp. The sessions were intentionally crafted to teach identity, purpose, and calling in Christ. Despite their young age, the participants engaged deeply in every aspect of the training—from biblical teaching and group activities to worship and prayer.

On the final day, the program ended early to make way for Sunday services, but the youth refused to leave. Instead, they broke into spontaneous praise and worship. Testimonies flowed freely—many from young people who had never spoken publicly before. Their stories reflected the deep work God had done in their hearts.

One youth shared,

“This training helped me understand who I am in Christ and what God has called me to do. I’ve made a decision to serve Him with my whole life and take His name to the unreached.”

Others echoed similar sentiments, calling the experience life-changing, eye-opening, and transformational.

From practical wisdom to deep biblical truths, the program left the youth equipped and eager to grow in their faith. The Holy Spirit moved powerfully during the dedication session, with many youth making fresh commitments and receiving spiritual impartation.

Breaking Barriers: A Historic Youth Training in Diglipur Sparks Revival

In a significant step forward for the remote regions of the Andaman Islands, the first-ever youth leadership training program was held in Diglipur, the archipelago’s northernmost island. After ministering in Port Blair, our team embarked on a challenging 14-hour journey through rain-drenched roads and tribal territories to reach Diglipur—where signs of openness and change were already visible.

Young participants arrived from Middle and Northern Islands, many of them pastors' children and first-timers to such a program. Though initially hesitant, the youth quickly engaged in vibrant discussions and scriptural debates, signaling a shift in mindset and spiritual hunger.

Over three powerful days, teaching sessions focused on worship, spiritual warfare, and calling, laying a strong foundation for leadership. As the program progressed, hearts opened, confidence grew, and the presence of God was tangibly felt. The training culminated in a powerful time of prayer and impartation, where many youth were filled with the Holy Spirit—some for the very first time.

Testimonies poured in, reflecting the deep impact. One participant shared,

“I’ve always struggled to answer questions about my faith, but now I feel equipped.”

Another expressed,

“I never understood worship like this before. My whole view has changed.”

Seeds of Revival in the South

Both the pastors' meeting and the youth training program were marked by intense spiritual engagement and significant breakthroughs. What began in the midst of a literal storm became a platform for spiritual awakening. Our visit to Port Blair ignited a fresh fire among both leaders and youth—laying a strong foundation for continued ministry and revival across the southern Andaman Islands.
