Last year, Derek Prince Ministries USA met with leaders from Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Out of those meetings, a unique partnership was formed to provide Derek Prince’s Laying the Foundation (LTF) teaching series on audio devices for YWAM workers in Africa.
A Successful Pilot Phase
The pilot project launched in 14 languages and has already produced encouraging testimonies. In the last quarter alone, YWAM distributed:
- Over 600 SD cards with Portuguese LTF and audio Bibles to Guinea-Bissau.
- More than 50 audio tools with Swahili LTF to Tanzania.
The results have been so fruitful that YWAM has now requested Derek’s materials in more languages, specifically highlighting their desire for the Laying the Foundation series. This presents an incredible opportunity to expand the reach of Derek’s teaching and help strengthen believers worldwide through YWAM’s global network. To serve YWAM’s request, we are now preparing Derek’s Laying the Foundation in languages such as Afrikaans, Arabic, Farsi, French, Hindi, Kirundi, Shona, Sorani, Spanish, Tswana, Urdu, Venda, and Zulu.
Building Strong Foundations in Africa
The Laying the Foundation series is one of Derek’s most widely used and impactful teachings. Even before our partnership with YWAM, it has been distributed across Africa through DVDs, printed notes, and now, digital audio players such as the Mega Voice Solar Player—devices loaded with hundreds of hours of Derek’s teaching, easily accessible in local languages.
Recently in Zimbabwe, believers requested additional players with the Foundations series in Shona. Ten devices are now being sent to Derek Prince Ministries Zimbabwe, with more going to young leaders’ training programs in Chegutu through a partner ministry. These programs disciple young Africans in faith while equipping them with practical skills such as farming, woodworking, sewing, and music.
Another ten devices are being sent to ministry groups in South African townships, loaded with the Foundations in Zulu. Bible study groups, prison ministries, and home fellowships are already seeing transformed lives through these resources.
Continuing Derek’s Vision
Derek's prayer was:
“Lord, we ask you to clear out of our minds and lives the irrelevancies and secondary issues and help us to come back to the foundation and to build on that.”
This is why getting these core teachings into as many languages and formats as possible remains at the heart of our mission. In addition to audio players and SD cards, we continue to distribute the Foundational Truths books and the Self-Study Bible Course, ensuring that believers everywhere can build their lives on God’s unshakable Word.
We are praying that this partnership with YWAM will raise up strong disciples of Jesus Christ in every nation—especially in these turbulent times.
