You may be aware, from receiving our regular updates, that Derek Prince Ministries is expanding into many regions of the world. Did you know, however, that we have vital work taking place in the region of East Africa?
Derek Prince taught that what God is going to get for Himself in Africa, as in the rest of the world, is a people for Himself. To that end, the work of Derek Prince Ministries UK in Africa actually began in 1957 when Derek and Lydia went out to Kenya as missionaries. Derek was the principal of the Nyang’ori Teacher Training College near Kisumu in Western Kenya.
For five years, Derek and Lydia planted the seed of God’s Word in the hearts of the students and many others in that region. Even today many of those seeds continue to bear a harvest through people who sat under Derek’s teaching—local pastors like Wilson Mamboleo, Joseph Likavo, and Silas Owiti.

Over the past four years, Derek Prince Ministries UK representatives Peter Lindop, Geoffrey Auma, and their team have been working in East Africa once again. Derek Prince Ministries UK was given a generous donation to renew the work in the region and to supply Bibles and Derek Prince teaching in Kenya, Uganda, [EAW2] Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda. The Lord has opened many avenues for distribution—prisons, refugee camps, the military, and the police. Materials have also been distributed in hospitals, Bible schools, universities, in Christian conferences, as well as amongst churches and individuals.
Our strategy has been to make Derek’s teaching available both in English (mainly Uganda and Kenya) and also in the local languages of Swahili (Kenya and Tanzania), Kirundi (Burundi), and Kinyarwanda (Rwanda). Our translation teams have been hard at work—resulting in many testimonies of changed lives and a first-time understanding of the Word of God in their own language.
One of the most amazing came from Joseph Tindo, the mechanic who works on Geoffrey’s car:
“One day Joseph came to Geoffrey with tears rolling down his cheeks, confessing that once when Geoffrey had brought his car for servicing, he had stolen Geoffrey's Bible and some books from the car. When Joseph started reading the books at home, the Holy Spirit began to convict him of his sin and his need to be saved. He gave his life to Jesus, but he knew that he needed to confess his sins to Geoffrey. Today, Joseph is doing well and growing in his newfound faith.”
As 2020 takes off, we have come to the end of the initial 4-year project to establish Derek Prince Ministries in East Africa, having built an infrastructure which will endure for the future. In the year ahead, we plan to continue the translation and printing in Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, and English. Readers are so grateful to receive Bible teaching in their mother-tongue where Bible teaching is very scarce.
Titles on our 2020 printing schedule include:
We invite you to invest in this region of Africa, which was so close to Derek’s heart. Please enable us to continue the work of making Derek’s teaching available in numerous different languages across the region.
In addition to our office in Kenya, we hope to establish a new legal entity in Tanzania. We have fresh supplies of books and Bibles waiting with our team member Amani, in Arusha, Tanzania, to reach this area as well.
Thank you in advance for whatever amount you are able to share. If God is leading you to sow into East Africa, we welcome your help and your ongoing prayers. The harvest in this region will be plentiful indeed.
Donate to support this important outreach.
