“The Lord has clearly and wonderfully opened the door for us into a new field of service, where the opportunities in Kenya at present are almost without parallel in the history of mission work.” These words, written by Derek in his newsletter in 1956, introduced the start of his ministry in East Africa. Today, our ministry is thriving like never before, and I am privileged to share some highlights with you.

Bible Schools

The DPM team in East Africa has worked hard over the past few years to establish an accessible Bible school program based on Derek's teaching. Classes take place three days a month at nearly 30 locations. Last year, in 2023, the total number of Derek Prince Bible Schools in Kenya and Uganda were 31. What a joy to teach these eager students from the Word of God.

The Bible School now has 1550 students. Out of them, 277 students qualified for graduation after 2 years of studies. We have been asked by neighboring countries to offer a similar program there. That requires further translation of Derek's teaching and training of new teachers.

A Marriage Saved From Divorce

When we offer our Bible schools, we stay for several days in the village. In the evenings, after the classes, students often come to us with questions on various issues. It is a time for prayer ministry and deliverance. One of these people is Pastor Nicholas from Uganda. His testimony shows the life-changing impact of God's Word.

Pastor Nicholas's marriage was in serious trouble. So much so, that he had decided to divorce his wife. He did not see a way to continue their marriage. When he first married his wife, he was under the impression that she was born again, but he soon found out that she was manifesting another spirit. His wife came from a family who was heavily engaged in witchcraft, and she was exercising these practises herself, too. Then there was the issue of infidelity, to the point where his wife got a child out of wedlock.

For a long time, Pastor Nicholas had tried to cover up their marital problems, fearing how a divorce could impact his church. But now, he had come to a point where he couldn't continue.

Through our lessons and personal ministry (based on Derek's teaching The Marriage Covenant), we explained that marriage is holy covenant. We also realised that his wife was in spiritual bondage and a demon was manifesting in her life, in order to destroy his ministry as a Pastor. We started teaching him about the life of long-suffering, perseverance and overcoming, as we align ourselves to the Word of God. This made Pastor Nicholas change his mind and he withdrew the divorce paper.

"The success of a marriage does not depend on lack of tension or problems, but it depends on establishing a relationship which can stand and overcome those tensions and problems."

We were also able to connect with his wife. Her initial response was very hostile, but we knew this was a manifestation of the evil spirits. Praise God, a new start was made. As Derek says in one of his sermons: "The success of a marriage does not depend on lack of tension or problems, but it depends on establishing a relationship which can stand and overcome those tensions and problems."

Reaching youth and local communities

In 2023, God helped us reach many learning Institutions and interact with youths via book distribution and projecting Derek Prince's video teachings. We experienced huge revivals and youths dedicating their lives to Jesus.

During our multiple conferences God gave us the opportunity to pray for the sick and cast out demons, bringing healing and deliverance to many. Another way that helped us reach many communities was through radio broadcasting. These broadcasts led to many phone calls, which offered an opportunity for personal ministry and leading people to Christ.

The translation, printing and distribution of books is another vital part of our ministry in East Africa. Last year, we printed a large amount of Derek's books and distributed them to churches, Bible schools and christians across East Africa. We also reached out to specific groups, such as prisons, homes for elderly people and rehabilitation centres.

Kenya and Uganda have 103 tribes; most of them do not speak English. The best way to reach them is through their local languages. That is why we are so grateful for our supporters, who allow us to translate Derek Prince's books to other local languages. Please join us in prayer for this challenge of meeting the request of other tribes who also need the books translated into their languages.

Open Air Gatherings: Proclaiming The Word Of God

Another highlight was a worship crusade that we hosted. It brought together five churches worshipping together. Our main intention was to bring back the spirit of worship within the believer and non-believer. Over 250 individuals came to attend and many reconfirmed their relationship with Jesus Christ. All those who attended were gifted by receiving Derek Prince's book Applying the Blood

Supporting Widows

In Africa, many people are stricken by poverty. The situation of widows is particularly difficult. Our team came face to face with the reality of their situation when they visited them, following-up after our trainings. After much prayer and consideration, we realised we could not ignore it nor put deaf ears to the cry of these young widows. As Derek says: 'Christianity not just going to church or singing hymns, but it’s sharing God’s concern with Him. He cares for widows, and we need to care.'

That is why so far, we have helped five widows to start a small scale businesses that help them put food on the table for their children. For example, one widow started a boutique in second hand clothes. We teach them how to run a small business and also offer pastoral care, helping them face the loss of their husbands. These are just pilot projects, but the outcome is that they come closer to God.

Thank You

When Derek wrote his newsletter in 1956, he commented on a reality that is still true today: “There are undoubtedly powerful satanic agents and influences at work seeking to produce conditions of hatred, disorder, and bloodshed here in Kenya. In the face of such opposition, spiritual results can only be achieved by unrelenting labour in prayer, in ministry of the Word, and in fasting.”

Therefore, let me thank you again for the prayer and support rendered to us. God has been very faithful throughout the year. We give Him the glory and honour.
